how do i force a game to use the dedicated gpu on a laptop

laptop with a 3060 but games run way slower than they should, like half the fps i got on windows. i think its using the intel igpu instead of the nvidia one. how do i force the dedicated gpu?

yeah thats prime offload. two easy ways: right click the game in the launcher or app menu and hit 'Launch using dedicated graphics card', or from a terminal run prime-run <thing>. for steam games put prime-run %command% in the games launch options. quick check its working: prime-run glxinfo | grep Renderer should say nvidia. full rundown: Graphics drivers

put prime-run %command% in the launch options and it jumped from ~35 to ~95 fps lmaooo been leaving performance on the table this whole time. ty
